“Summer Hairstyles”

Summer hairstyles. Basic tips for summer hair care and summer hairstyles that you can wear in the warmer months. Your guide to everything you need to know for summer hair and summer hairstyles.

Waves/Curls - Since its summer, instead of blow-drying your hair out why don’t you try braiding your hair when it’s wet. Or just letting it air dry. By braiding your hair when it’s wet you can achieve super cute curls or waves in your hair that people can rave about all summer long. If you’re African American you can also twist your hair when it’s wet for the same affect. For a cute summer wavy up do, take a section of hair from your hairline to you crown, smooth the front part down, and tease the pony. After teasing put an elastic band to secure your hair. Then pin your hair with a 1/8 section to wrap around the pony tail to give your hair an extra edgy feel.
Color/Highlights- summer is a great time to try new and exciting hair colors. My best advice is to go to a professional, but if you’re feeling you can do it yourself by all means go ahead. Make sure that however your research the product before hand to make sure it doesn’t do major damage to your hair. You can also find new colors in hair magazines. Always remember to choose a hair color that will bring out your best features.

New Haircut – if you’re feeling bold this summer and you’ve been wanting to cut your hair for a while, then go for it. Why not its summer right? This is one of the best times to try something new. If you’re a little bit scared to make that final cut you may want to try layers for now. Layers can give you a different look without losing a lot of hair. They can actually frame your face and make your best features pop. Make sure that you look through tons of hair magazines to find some cute new looks. Be sure to choose a hairstyle that fits your gorgeous face.
The different shapes of your face can be grouped in heart, round, oval and square.

Heart- your forehead is wider than your jaw and your chin is narrow.
The best heart shape styles
•Short and full
•Long bangs
•Bangs that are straight across

Round – your face is widest at your cheeks and your chin is round
Best round styles
•Long length with side swept bangs. .
•Brow level layers in the front.
•Layers that hit at the bottom of your chin.

Oval- your face is long, with a high forehead and narrow chin.
Best oval styles
•Long layers
•Slightly off centered part
•Layers that end at your checks

Square- your forehead and jaw are about the same width
Best square styles
• Sideswept bangs
• Shoulder length haircut
• Short layers

Updo’s – summer is a great time to show off your pretty face by wearing your hair up. Not to mention the fact that it will also keep your face cooler. Cute updo’s are also perfect if you have acne, it will keep oils from dripping into your pores and causing breakouts. If you’re looking for some cute updo’s the best choice is the messy hair bun. Put your hair in a pintail anyplace on your head, preferably the top and secure it with another band leaving some of your hair out so that you can have a many appeal.

Sun Damage- the number one look your don’t want this summer is damaged hair from the sun. Try not to go in the sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the rays are the most potent. If you do have to go in the sun because people do have lives try to wear a hat or use hair products with spf. If you have color in your hair pay special close attention to your strands, make sure that you use good conditioned hair products with tons of antioxidants. If you plan on going swimming don’t be afraid to use hair caps, or at least put your strands in a pony tail. Another great idea is to wet your hair before you get into the pool. CHLORINE CAN DAMAGE YOUR HAIR MORE WHEN ITS DRY THAN WHEN ITS WET.
