“Model Makeup Looks from the Met Costume Institute Gala

The models looked gorgeous last night at the Gala look below to find out how you can recreate their makeup looks using Lancôme products:

Celebrities, supermodels and fashion designers flocked to The Metropolitan Museum of Art last night for Vogue’s annual, star-studded Costume Institute gala. Hosted by Marc Jacobs, Kate Moss and Justin Timberlake, this was New York’s party of the year! There was no shortage of glamour last night and Lancôme provided the makeup for a bevy of beauties including Lancôme ambassador Anne Hathaway, Lancôme spokesmodel Daria Werbowy and Arlenis Sosa, Alek Wek, Du Juan, Michelle Alves and Vanessa Traina. We have the scoop straight from the makeup artists who created the looks for these gorgeous ladies.

Celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin did supermodel Michelle Alves’ pretty, natural makeup.

He accentuated the eyes with Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow Quad in Haute Sunset, a palette of neutral, peachy and beige shades. To create definition, he lined the eyes with Lancôme Le Crayon Khôl in Noir and added a few coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black. A dusting of Lancôme Blush Subtil in Miel Glace was applied to the apples of the cheek. Daniel used Color Design Lipstick in Love It and Color Fever Gloss in Rose Jolie to create a high-shine, pink pout.

Daniel also created the beautiful look for Vanessa Traina.

He applied Lancôme Artliner in Noir to the lash line starting at the inner corner and blended it out, then coated the lashes with Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black to add length. He added just a touch of color to her cheeks with Lancôme Color Design Blush in Chic Cassis, applied with his finger. To finish the look, Daniel used Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere, the perfect hue for a beigey, nude lip.

Celebrity makeup artist Oslyn Holder worked with supermodel Alek Wek.

First, Oslyn lined the upper lash line with Le Stylo Waterproof in Noir and blended Color Design Eyeshadow in Statuesque and Backstage Pass on the eyelid. To make Alek’s eyes pop, she applied several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Deep Black. Next, Oslyn added some color to the cheeks using Color Design Cream Blush in Chic Cassis. She finished the look with Color Fever Gloss in Intense to create a beautiful, deep burgundy pout.

“How to Find The Best Lipstick Color”

Tips for how to find the best lipstick color for you. I often see women wearing the perfect lipstick color, and I wonder why I can’t seem to find one that looks good on me. Although I always see woman wearing a good lipstick color at times I see women wearing the wrong colors as well. I wear makeup, mostly because my skin is always in need of a little help, and even though I have been told I have great eyes, they are a little small. I tend to use makeup to make them appear a little larger. Like some women I have never been able to find a color of lipstick that looks good on me though, and I’m not sure what the problem might be.

how-to-find-the-best-lipstick-color.jpg

You have to find a lipstick color that matches your skin tone. For some reason, I can’t seem to find one. Plenty of people have tried to help me decide what I should wear, but I have never found anything that I think looks good on me. I don’t know if I’ll ever find a lipstick color for me, but I guess that’s not a huge tragedy. I have found gloss that I like on me, though the same color in lipstick won’t work. Perhaps the strong color of any lipstick is what won’t work for me.

Perhaps I am just too picky, as I have seen people wearing lipstick with my skin tone and hair color, and I think that they look just fine. The lipstick color they are wearing is something that I take note of and try, but I just don’t like the way it looks. Maybe I have a face that just can’t wear it, or perhaps I don’t dress up enough and I don’t have time to get used to it. I just don’t wear it enough I guess, and perhaps if I did, I would get used to how it looks.

If you want to find the best lipstick color for you, you can try to find out what you should wear by going by your skin tone or your hair color. I wish you luck, as this has never worked for me. You may find it easy to choose a lipstick color, and you may even find a few different shades that you love. You might want to go into a department store and ask someone at the cosmetics counter for help. They may be able to help you choose, or even give you a few samples to take home and try out. Remember to look at the color in all different types of light. A lipstick color that looks good in your home might not look so hot in the sunlight or under a fluorescent light.

“Must Have Makeup Product (Tarte Blush)”

Must have makeup product Tarte Blush. As most of my readers know I’m always on the hunt for a good blush. So far the best that I have found comes from Nars but Tarte now comes in as a close second. Last week I tried the Tarte Cheek Stain Blush Blushing Bride. I tend to wear Mineral Makeup since I have oily skin and I have found that Gel Blush lasts so long on oily complexions and truth be told it lasts all day. There was no need for touch ups which is a big thing for oily skin.

tarte-blush.jpg tarte-blush2.jpg

Tarte Blush comes in many different yummy flavors and they smell so good, but you don’t have to worry about breakouts since there are so many vitamins its good for your skin and the environment. For the most natural Tarte flush to your cheeks there are many different ways you can apply it. Take your Tarte Blush and apply it directly to your cheeks, use a sponge , or dab the product on with your fingers. Which ever works best for you. If you wear Mineral Makeup like me the best way to apply is with a brush, slowly dip your brush into the blush and tap it over your cheeks for a flawless finish. You’ll blush naturally all day long.

“Beauty Trend of The Week Bright Eyeliner”

This week’s beauty trend of the week is bright eyeliner. Bright eyeliner is one of the hottest trends for summer. Bold bright eyeliner looks best as a graphic line. To get the best look trace your top or bottom lash lines. With such a bold bright look always trace either or not both. After applying your bold liner don’t smudge or use mascara. The bold liner is all you need.

“Beauty Trend of the Week Matte Foundation”

This week’s beauty trend is matte foundation. This spring is all about matte foundation, no shiny t-zone or foreheads. It’s all about natural matte complexions. Glowing dewy skin is more for summer months. For the prefect natural matte finish you can use matte foundation and matte powder. I’m in love with Make Up For Ever for a natural matte look. If you have combination or oily skin you can use a oil absorbing moisturizer before putting on your primer. A primer is key to a beautiful matte complexion. Make sure you pay close attention to your t-zone. When applying your powder be sure to use a brush, this will provide a flawless cake free complexion that is natural. You can re touch throughout the day with blotting sheets, and translucent powder if you need too.

” Smokey Eyes”

“Smokey eyes” is sultry makeup that is sure to get you noticed and draw attention to any set of eyes. Dramatic and smokey eyes are very popular for fall 2007 and winter 2007 and winter 2008. Many of my readers are asking how they can achieve the perfect smokey eye look. So today you can learn exactly how to get hot smokey eyes with these tips, plus tips to stop your eye makeup from running. Every girls enemy is raccoon eyes.

Sephora.com, Inc.

One of my favorite celebrity smokey eyes is Nicole Scherzinger from the pussy cat dolls. Her smokey eyes always look flawless. She is a prime explame of perfect smokey eyes.

smokey-eyes.gif

“Smokey Eye Tips”

1. Always start your smokey eyes or any eye makeup by applying foundation first. This helps prevent the racoon effect.

2. Next you want to begin with a sheer nude color all over your eye. Always pick a color closest to your natural shade, and begin putting the color all over from your lid to your brow bone.

3. Then you are going to apply either a plum or dark brown eyeshadow from your lid to your crease. (PLUM WORKS BEST ON LIGHTER COMPLEXIONS). Try to use a cream shadow since it smudges easier than powder. You can apply the color with your fingers or a makeup brush.

5. After that you’re going to line your entire eye with either a plum or dark color depending on your complexion. Darker complexions work very well with black and brown while lighter skin works better with plum. It all depends on how much attention you want with your smokey eye look. Line your eyes with the pencil color of your choice. For even more of a dramatic effect don’t forget to line your inner rims of you eye.

5. To really open your eyes use your eye curler to curl you eyelashes. To create even more of a curl blast the curler with the blow dryer for a few seconds, and then curl your lashes. Next use two to three coats of mascara.

6. For more sparkle add a silver shadow to the inner corners of your eyes.

(NOTE: IF YOU PLAN ON FILLING IN YOUR BROWS DO SO AFTER APPLYING YOUR EYE MAKEUP)

Makeup tips to stop raccoon eyes

1. Always use a tissue folded in half right below your eye to catch any shadow that falls.

2. Use white translucent powder below the eyes and dust off after applying your eye makeup. This will also help catch any fallen shadow.

Sephora.com, Inc.

3. When you’re done applying your eye makeup use a concealer brush to clean up any. Take your brush and dab some foundation of loose powder under your eyes.
