“Applying Makeup Tips” ( Your Guide to Blush and Cheeks)

Applying the right makeup is very important. Your makeup needs to look polished, natural, and it should enhance what you already have naturally. Many women don’t know how to apply makeup, especially blush. When it comes to blush many women will overdo it and will apply it in the wrong areas of the face. It’s also very important to use the right kind of blush… are you using the right kind of blush for your skin type?

The number 1 rule for blush is always apply to the apples of your cheeks. If you’re not sure where that area is don’t guess, instead smile. Applying the blush while smiling will give women a more appropriate application of where one would blush naturally.

Dry Skin-The best type of blush to use on dry skin is cream blush. It’s soft and has a smooth texture that will stay on your skin longer than a powder which tends to flake and dust off dry skin. The best way to apply is by taking a small amount on your finger tips, and pressing the color over your apples until in blends it.

Laura Mercier Creme Cheek Colour Oleander
Create naturally flushed looking cheeks with a soft, velvety finish using Laura Mercier’s new Creme Cheek Colors. Each shades provides translucent buildable coverage for long lasting, wearable color.

Oily Skin-The best type of blush for your skin is powder, it will absorb any extra oils in your skin and will give you a healthier looking flush. If you try Bare Minerals Face All Over use the swirl, buff and tap method. Mineral Makeup is perfect for oily skin. Other ways to apply regular powder blush including using a flat brush to dust on the powder. This will also help you apply the blush right on the apples. Take one side of the brush with the powder and hold it vertically meaning bristles upward against your skin. Then apply the blush in circular motion.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals All-Over Face Color 0.03 oz Pure Radiance

bareMinerals All-Over Face Colors provide a natural luminosity that is similar to the dewiness of a child’s skin. Sweep these illuminating minerals on your cheeks, forehead, and chin for an instant goddess glow.

Normal Skin-Cheek Stain Blush is perfect for normal skin because it will sink perfectly into your cheeks and will create a soft and natural finish to your skin. Simply dot the stain on your apples with your fingertips. If it’s a tube then then take the tube to you face. Then use your makeup sponge and blend it into your skin using circular motions before the color sets.

“2007 EMMY AWARDS BEST AND WORST DRESSED”

Did you miss the red carpet and you’re wondering who looked their best, and their worst this year at the 2007 Emmy Awards? Who was seen wearing the hottest fashion for fall 2007, and the hottest 2007 hairstyles? Celebrities always look their best but sometimes their hairstyles, their personal stylists and makeup artist don’t work together to create the perfect appearance for their clients, and when this happens the celebrity ends up looking a mess. Check out who hit the jack pot, and who looked a mess.

Best Dressed For Emmy’s 2007

Katherine Heigl

She looked amazing in this all white gown who by the way picked out the dress herself. You have to admire an actress who can be her own personal stylist and do a great job doing so. Katherine’s hair also looked flawless as her 40’s style waves rock back gently in a bun. Which is a very hot prom up do for 2007 and 2008 hairstyles. 40’s style waves itself are very hot for fall 2007. Her elegant red lipstick were the perfect pair to match her overall look for the Emmy’s. She truly looks beautiful.

“2007 FALL MAKEUP TRENDS”There were many different looks that were rocked this year on the runway. So here’s a few “makeup trends for the fall 2007.”

Glam- the old Hollywood’s look if a big hit for “Fall of 2007″. The biggest trends feature red lipstick, cat eyes and soft 40’s style waves (read about it in “2007 fall hairstyles”).

Lipstick- Its been a while but lipstick is finally making a comeback. For a while it was all about lipgloss, but now it’s lipstick’s turn. Most lipstick’s now contain sparkles, and vitamin’s that give you soft kissable lips. Red is the hottest shade of lipstick right now, and it looks good on almost everyone. So make sure you have a shade of red lipstick for fall 2007. Use a nude lip liner to line the lips, and then use a lip brush to paint the red lipstick on top.

Cat Eyes- Very sexy cat eyes are in this season use a angled black liner, or purple liner if you’re fair . Take a taupe shadow across the brow bone and add some mascara for length.

Bold Brows- Bold brows are simply thick bows, meaning the penciled in, very thin brows are not longer sexy. Right now makeup overall is all about looking natural and light, so with that brows are standing out more. So ladies when it comes to brows this season remember that less is more when it comes to tweezing. if you have thin brows you can always fill them in, but don’t over do it. To learn how to fill in your brows click here.
How to Fill in Brows .

Eyeliners- good eye liners are liquids, pots, and pencils.

  1. liquids- pointed brushes give your prime precisions.
  2. pots- good for smoky eye smudges.
  3. pencils- glide on easily.

Lashes- are very in this season, so play them up with multiple coats, and maybe some fake lashes. If you go with fake choose some that look natural. HOW TO PUT ON FAKE LASHES

hair8.jpg

DRAMATIC EYES- PLAYING UP YOUR EYES IS VERY BIG FOR THE FALL. Big Dramatic Lashes are big this fall 2007 season. To add more volume to your lashes play them with with fake lashes, or try a curler. To get the best results with curler try boosting the curl by blasting it with a few seconds with hot air from your hair dryer before using. Then dot a black pencil along your lash lines to get spare spaces. Lastly take your mascara and avoid clumps by wiping the wand with a tissue to remove excess color.

Make sure that if you play up your eyes, you use nude colors for lipstick and keep your eyebrows waxed and trim. Because all focus will be on your eyes. For Smokey eyes take two dark shades and blend the two together. Always use a smudge brush for a full effect. Line the inner rims and shine corners and brow bones with a lighter shadow. Such as silver.

“GETTING GLOWING SKIN”

Since summer is pretty much around the corner, getting tan skin and glowing skin is everyone’s top priority. Let’s face it. A nice tan makes you look and feel great. Plus, it can hide ugly cellulite and also make you appear thinner. It can also help prevent serious sunburn.

If you’re old fashion and you believe in getting a tan the natural way you should always protect yourself with sunscreen having at least an SPF of 30 or more. Apply as often as you can to make sure you’re protecting your beautiful skin from sunrays. I must however warn you that by tanning this way you are in high risk of getting a sun burn, so you should really check out a tanning salon first. The old saying burn first and tan later is completely false.

One of the biggest secrets for getting healthy natural looking tanned skin is actually by going to a tanning salon and getting a small base tan. If you’re scared about going to the tanning salon research the best ones in your area and visit the salon before you actually get the producer done. If you have a Mystic Tan is your area I highly recommend going there since their tan can brown your skin very nicely. Ask for a level one tan which is perfect for achieving a nice tanned look. After a while you can start lying in the sun if you want to keep your tan up or to make it darker. Now that you have a base tan your skin will tanner easier. Or you can keep going to the salon, but you must do one of the two in order to keep your tan going strong and healthy!

When it comes to tanning, every person’s skin type is different so you may get different results. Before getting started me sure you talk with your local tanning salon for a skin type analysis (from a Smart Tan Certified Tanning Consultant) so you can get a good idea of where to start.

Always remember that tanning too often can and will speed up your aging process and potentially cause other skin ailments over a long period of time. So make sure that you aren’t tanning too often.

There is of course a easier way to get both a tan and glowing skin at the same time. And you don’t have to worry about getting skin damage or take time out of your schedule by lying in the sun. As you may know many companies are producing wonder little bottles of self tanners and lotions to apply daily. You may be thinking these products are going to make my skin look natural or brown, just orange and sticky. This used to be true, but over the past few years tanner lotions have gotten better. The trick is knowing which ones produce the best results. Always make sure that your product contains a small dose of that tan in a bottle miracle called DHA. This is the good stuff that provides healthy skin benefits , while firming and reducing stubble .

“Tan/ Glowing Skin”

Always exfoliate before you apply any lotions or products. Tanners won’t color as well to dry flaky skin so make sure your skin is smooth before applying. You can apply regular lotions to areas like your knee caps and elbow, because dry areas usually grab most of the color and your skin will look very uneven no matter how well you apply the tanner.• When you are putting on the product make sure you start at the bottom and finish at the top. If you start at the top your risk creases in your color because you’ll have to end up bending down to reach your legs and feet. So always make sure you start with your feet.

• Make sure you product sets for at least 15 minutes before you start putting on any clothes. If you don’t wait for the product to dry all 15 minutes expect to have a big mess to clean up afterwards. If you’re in a rush for time you can use a blow dryer to rush the process.

• After you have applied the product wait 5 minutes and then you use a dry wash cloth or loofah to diffuse any color from your in between your hands or any areas you don’t want color.

• In order to keep your glow and color minimize your shower habits to no longer than 10 minutes. Longer showers can strip the color right out of you skin and be careful not to use hot water as well.

5 Best Tanners to Use( looks good on any complexion)

Any Olay Quench Body Lotions - contains tiny sparkles that firm your skin while creating a lovely light glow.

Jergens Natural Daily Moisturizer- gradually makes your darker as the days go by.

Sally Hansen Smooth Glow Stubble Reducing Daily Moisturizer- gives a light tan to skin and reduce stubble.

St. Ives Healthy Brilliance Firm and Glow Body Moisturizer- smells good and firms your sin.

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Glow Moisturizing Mist- allows you to spray in any area and looks so real.

“Tan/ Glowing Skin”

In part one I talked about the different ways you can achieve the perfect tan/glow for your body. Part two is all about the different ways you can achieve the perfect tan/glow for your face, with the use of makeup. Before applying any make-up on your face always start with a primer.
Primer: simply a girl’s best friend they can create magic for anyone’s skin. Doing little things such as giving you instantly smoother, softer skin, shrinking your pores, removing oil and dry rough patches and helping your overall makeup stay on longer. Primer will also help keep your skin glowing without letting oil seep in. Products I recommend:
Smashbox Cosmetics - photo finish foundation primer
•Bare Minerals -BareVitamins Prime Time

Face: after applying your magic wand its time to move on to the face. Many people don’t like to wear heavy makeup in the summer because they feel like they are melting and makeup can get very sticky. At the same time they also want their skin to look healthy and glowing without looking oily. The best thing is to stick to tinted moisturizers that are oil-free. That way your pores are less likely to clog and you are still getting coverage. In order to create a glow or tan look try purchasing a shade darker than you would normally use. Remember to only go one shade darker so that you look still looks as natural as possible. Another good thing is that most tinted moisturizers have SPF in their products.

If you feel that tinted moisturizers don’t give you enough coverage try and buy brands that are oil-free so that your pores don’t get clogged with oil in the summer heat. You might also want to try mineral based products because they are also light way and many of them will give you the look of healthy glowing skin.

Tinted Moisturizers

Becca- Luminous Skin Color SPF 20
COSMEDICINE - Honest Face Skin Tint & Treatment SPF 20

Oil-free Makeup
SHISEIDO- Pureness Matifying Compact Oil-Free Case And Refill
Smash Box Cosmetics- High Definition Healthy FX Foundation SPF 15

Mineral Makeup
Bare Minerals- i.d. bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation
AMAZING COSMETICS- Velvet Mineral Powder Foundation

Checks: the fun part of creating a healthy glow because the checks if where it all shines. Glowing checks can add a new def to your face with wonderful illusions. This is why one of the best ways to create glowing checks is with luminizers. If you wish to do so you can mix your luminzing products with any of your foundations in order to create a bigger brighter glow to your skin. It all depends on the look you are going for. If you just want glowing checks than you can use luminizers as a blush to create and bring light to your checks or any other areas of your face. Such as your nose, eyes, or forehead.
Sephora: Luminous Trio
Bare Minerals- i.d. bareMinerals All-Over Face Color ( minerals)
Smashbox Cosmetics- O-GLOW Fusion Beauty Perfect Glow - Light ($98 Value) Perfect Glow - Light

Eyes: summertime is great for waterproof eye liners and mascara. You can also try eye primers so that your eye makeup last longer. If you want to create or add to your glowing skin, you can use colors such as bronze, silver, gold, and turquoise (which are great for already tan skin). You can also try cream eye shadow; most creams have little shimmers in them that can really make your eyes pop.
Eye Primers
MAKE UP FOR EVER-Eye Seal

Waterproof Eyeliner and Mascara
MAKE UP FOR EVER- Waterproof Eyeliner
TARTE- Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara

Cream and Eye shadows
Bare Minerals- Get Started Eyes
BENEFIT COSMETICS- Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

Lips: If you’re trying to a healthy glowing look with your lips always try to use colors that are nude, natural and pink. Nude colors and soft natural lips will make the rest of your face pop with color. So if you want to achieve a healthy glow remember to play up the rest of your face, always leave your lips natural and soft. Some great products and colors that I recommend are
Lorac- nude
Nars -Belle de Jour or Casablanca
